Suzuki developed many of the Gsxr's components on the racetrack.
The GS 1000 R was a test bed for a lot of new technologies earmarked for the pianned Gsxr, not just for the alloy frame.
Its wheelbase was impressively short to improve its handling quickness, and its weight was reduced wherever possible.
At the time it was not so important for endurance bikes to be light, but the combination worked well.
This is the second Suzuki france endurance racer for 1983, ridden by French teammates Pierre Etienne Samin and Dominique Pernet.
It placed fifth in the race.
